salt Clothing

With Salt Clothing I celebrate the multidimensional woman who recognizes that exceptional design need never force a choice between comfort and allure or between capability and beauty. My garments move seamlessly through life’s varied moments, supporting you equally whether sprinting for your train or sliding into a leather banquette for an intimate dinner. Bold patterns and vibrant colors infuse each piece with a spirit of playfulness and joy, transforming your daily dressing ritual into an act of genuine self-care. We believe that experiencing delight in your clothing is not a luxury but a necessity, a small but significant celebration that begins each morning as you prepare to face the world. Every Salt garment is thoughtfully crafted in California using either rescued deadstock fabrics or organic materials exclusively milled in the United States, honoring both environmental responsibility and domestic craftsmanship. Our designs exist for women who demand more from their wardrobe, who understand that clothing should both empower your actions and elevate your spirit without compromise.

Quecha Collection

Immersed in the weathered pages of vintage National Geographic issues, I encountered a moment of profound creative clarity when confronted by a nameless woman whose commanding presence demanded a two-page spread. Her ensemble of bold patterns and purposeful layers, complete with substantial pockets, struck me immediately. She gazed defiantly toward the camera, hands occupied with her work, voice projected over her shoulder to someone beyond the frame. Caught in the midst of meaningful activity, this woman, simultaneously elegant and industrious, awakened something essential in my creative vision.

From these initial images, I distilled sartorial elements that honor both visual beauty and practical function. The resulting silhouettes celebrate femininity without sacrificing capability, understanding that the modern woman’s wardrobe should enhance rather than hinder her daily journey. Carefully selected stretch fabrics allow for contoured shapes that honor the body’s natural lines while providing the freedom necessary for unrestricted movement. Volume appears throughout the collection not merely as aesthetic choice but as thoughtful design, offering practical warmth where needed while introducing elements of joy and playfulness. After all, who can resist the simple pleasure of twirling in a generously cut circle skirt or structured jacket?

I named this collection Quecha in homage to the language spoken by the original women whose strength and style catalyzed this creative exploration, a tribute to their seamless integration of beauty and practicality, their refusal to sacrifice either form, function, or beauty when all are not only possible but essential.

AMA Collection

During my studies at CCAC, I discovered the remarkable history of female fishing collectives in early twentieth-century Japan. These extraordinary groups, particularly the Ama pearl divers, captivated my imagination as they forged unprecedented paths in traditionally masculine maritime professions. These merchant-class women transformed their specialized skills into thriving livelihoods, creating economic independence through mastery of their craft in an era of rigid gender constraints.

The silhouettes throughout this collection derive directly from the modified kimono and practical work robes these women adapted for their demanding physical labor. I selected a palette of rich jewel tones that echoes the natural world these women navigated daily, from the deep blues and teals of the seas they harvested to the lush greens of the coastal hillsides where they mended their nets and prepared their tools. Each color choice serves as a tribute to both their working environment and their revolutionary spirit.

What emerges is a ready-to-wear collection that honors the functionality of traditional workwear while maintaining an inherent softness and fluid grace. These garments celebrate the duality these pioneering women embodied, refusing to sacrifice practicality for beauty or feminine identity for professional respect. The Ama Collection stands as a contemporary homage to women who understood that strength and softness need not be opposing forces but can coexist in perfect harmony, a philosophy as relevant today as it was over a century ago in the fishing villages of coastal Japan.

straati collection

The texture of San Francisco manifests in every fiber of the Straati Collection, inspired by a city where motion defines daily life. Born from my experiences navigating San Francisco’s distinctive landscape, these garments celebrate the paradoxical relationship between casual necessity and deliberate elegance. The forms, lines, and prints throughout the collection draw direct inspiration from topographical maps of my childhood neighborhood, while the layering of wool, knit, and cotton jersey mirrors the geological strata of granite, clay, and sand forming the city’s iconic hills.

I challenge conventional wisdom that relegates wool and knits to casual daywear, elevating these versatile textiles to evening elegance traditionally reserved for silk and fur. By rejecting conservative rigidity, these fabrics transcend their utilitarian origins as work pants and casual sweaters, embracing sophistication without sacrificing comfort. As a native San Franciscan, I have sought clothing that offers true functionality while maintaining undeniable style, garments that perform beautifully whether biking down Market Street or sliding into a booth at Tadich Grill. The Straati Collection represents my dedication to creating attire that honors both the dynamic spirit of San Francisco and the multifaceted lives of those who call it home
